Richard Moss (b. 1983, Johannesburg, South Africa) is a multidisciplinary artist based in London. His work bridges art, architecture, and technology, exploring themes of movement, natural history, dislocation, and time through painting, experimental drawing, creative machines and functional design.
Moss studied art history and structural engineering at Brown University, followed by a master’s degree in engineering at Imperial College London. He worked in civic architecture in New York City under Santiago Calatrava, while developing his artistic practice at the New York Studio School under Graham Nickson. He has further refined his practice through studios at the Royal College of Art and Royal Drawing School.
Moss is the founder of UK based Rogue projects, a multidisciplinary design collective. He is particularly known for his inventions and creative machines — functional art installations that thread software and mechanics into poetic representations. The studio has won numerous international design awards.
